Cape May County Midget Football League 

Hawks Capture Midget Crown

The Ocean City Hawks won their third straight title in the Cape May County Midget Football League by continuing their 25-game winning streak by blanking the Lower Township Raiders 14-0. Mike Linahan and Joe Bowen scored all the points for the defending champions. Linahan scored his first touchdown on a six-yard run in the second quarter and later in the same quarter he dashed around end for 65 yards. Bowen made both point afters.

Greater Wildwood Midget Football League 

Spitfires Win Grid Title

After spotting the Red Raiders a 6-point lead, the Spitfires roared back to win, 25-6, and capture first place and the title. Red Raider speedster Bob Barrish raced 80 yards with the opening kickoff to give his team the early lead. Later in the first quarter Spitfire Mark Peters twisted his way over from seven yards out to knot the score. After a scoreless second quarter the Spitfires broke the game open when Mike DiLiberato took the second half kickoff and raced 70 yards down the sidelines behind a line of blockers. Later in the third period the Spitfires added another tally when Mark Peters tallied his second TD on the day on an 11-yard run. Dean Gentek scored the extra point. Justin Catanoso of the Spitfires closed out the scoring on a one-yard sneak as his team replaced the Red Raiders as Midget League champs.
